Dinner #7: Food [July 25]

Food: We all need it. Some of us have a complicated relationship with it. Some of us love it. Some of us love it so much that we’re considered a “foodie.” Well, get your cameras ready, cause this dinner will be one for Instagram. The master home brewer and self-taught chef, James Yarbrough will be pampering us with a 5-course, beer-paired dinner!

The discussion will focus on what food meant to our families, what food means to us now, and how we got there.

The deets:

  • Saturday, July 25th at my house.
  • 7-11: Eat & Discuss
  • $20 total for 5-courses + beer


The Menu:


Garden Salad: kale, spinach, strawberries, pecans, homemade chèvre, red onion, and radish, with a Hibiscus IPA dressing
Paired with: Hibiscus IPA


Ceviche: fish, scallops, radish, red onion, avocado, mango, dried peppers, cured in olive oil and lime juice
Paired with: Mango Wit

Palate cleanser: homemade coffee bitters spritzer


Dried pepper rubbed steak smothered in sautéed okra accompanied by homemade bread
Paired with: Chili Okra Smoked Stout


Cheese plate with homemade goat cheese and pickles, with cured meat
Paired with: Oak Aged Sour Pale Ale


Strawberry basil ice cream
Paired with: Double Berliner Weisse
